In the last several years, Conway County has made tremendous strides in addressing the many issues of its economic and community development. Those experiences have brought a clear understanding that we will thrive only when all have the opportunity to develop their full potential. We understand that in this competitive world more and higher valued jobs will go to those that have the skills and energy to meet changing workplace demands. We understand that education and training are necessary to produce those skills and inspire that energy. The message is simple. “School Counts!"
"School Counts!" operates with four objectives:
Remove financial barriers to earning post-secondary education and training necessary to prepare for higher paying jobs.
Encourage high school students and their families to recognize the necessity of post-secondary education and training in having a better quality of life.
Encourage Conway County high school graduates to begin their post-secondary education at UACCM and remain in Conway County as valued employees and contributing residents.
Produce a workforce in our county that has the capacity to entice local employers to expand and attract new employers to locate here.
SCHOOL COUNTS! is a permanently endowed scholarship fund designated for any Conway County high school graduate who meets the “SCHOOL COUNTS!” criteria. Students meeting the criteria are eligible to receive up to $1,000 per semester to attend UACCM, including a $250 tuition waiver from the college. For students who choose to attend UACCM but already receive over $1,000 in other scholarships and grants, School Counts! will award a $250 book scholarship. A permanent endowment fund of at least $1,000,000 will be required to fund the number of scholarships anticipated in the near future.
